Acoustic Wool Lighting

Lof creates wool pendant lighting that brings warmth, softness, and acoustic calm to interiors. Made from regenerative New Zealand wool, each piece is designed to gently diffuse light while helping to reduce echo — offering a natural alternative to softening hard, reflective surfaces.

Lighting that helps reduce noise

Wool is a high-performance natural fibre with inherent sound-absorbing properties. In interior spaces, it helps soften reverberation and reduce echo, particularly in open plan homes, high ceilings, busy spaces, and architectural environments. Used at scale, wool lighting contributes to a quieter, more comfortable atmosphere, without the need for synthetic acoustic panels.

A softer approach to architectural lighting

Most lighting is designed purely for illumination. Lof’s approach considers how light behaves within a space, not just visually, but acoustically. The knitted structure of wool allows light to pass through softly, creating a warm, diffused glow while the fibres work to absorb sound. The result is lighting that feels calm, textural, and grounded.

Designed for larger spaces

Lof’s wool pendants are particularly suited to spaces where acoustics can be challenging, stairwells, double height living areas, and open plan interiors. Larger pieces, such as the Hiwa 80 and Double Hoop, bring both visual presence and acoustic benefit, helping to balance scale with softness.

Natural materials, considered design

Each light is crafted from regenerative New Zealand strong wool, sourced and made locally. The material remains largely undyed and minimally processed, allowing its natural performance qualities to remain intact. This approach reflects a broader belief, that natural materials, when used thoughtfully, can outperform synthetic alternatives while creating spaces that feel warmer, quieter, and more connected to place.
