Lighting crafted for site, space, and story.
Every site is different. When a project calls for lighting that responds to architecture, materiality, and a strong sense of place, we take on a very limited number of custom commissions. Our custom work extends the Wool Hoop language to suit unique briefs where sustainability, locality, and design craft matter. Alongside our core range, we collaborate on bespoke pieces for projects where the concept aligns with our values, and the timeline and budget are realistic. We prioritise commissions that champion regenerative materials, local making, and acoustic comfort — creating lighting that feels distinctly Aotearoa New Zealand. A good fit for our custom work is a project with a clear connection to site and place, where there’s an appetite for NZ-made, traceable materials that also deliver acoustic performance. We’re best suited to briefs with realistic lead times and budgets, allowing us to create something truly thoughtful and enduring.

A recent highlight for Lof was collaborating with Queenstown architect Jonathan Goss, to fill an expansive open area with large, woolly volumes, creating eight 900mm double-layer lights for a newly opened hospitality space in Tāmaki makaurau Auckland.
