Collection — Wool Hoop

Lof’s first lighting collection, Wool Hoop was launched in 2024. Named after the Dutch word for “hope,” it also reflects the circular form and design language of the light itself. The collection explores how New Zealand strong wool can soften architectural spaces through light, texture, and sound. Its knitted honeycomb structure gently diffuses light while helping to soften acoustics, creating interiors that feel warmer, quieter, and more grounded. Developed through a five-year research and development process, Wool Hoop was created with co-funding support from MPI Sustainable Food & Fibre Futures and AGMARDT, exploring how design can add value to New Zealand strong wool while supporting fairer value chains for growers. Crafted from undyed Romney wool grown at Palliser Ridge Farm in the Wairarapa, each piece carries a quiet connection to Aotearoa’s rural landscape. Designed on Waiheke Island and made in Aotearoa New Zealand, Wool Hoop reflects Lof’s ongoing commitment to circular design, local materials, and fair value chains.
